Alice Miller, 86, Browns Valley, MN, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at her residence in Browns Valley.
Funeral services were Monday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley with Father David Breu officiating. Music was provided by organist Carmen Hills and vocalists Sue Sykora and Stacey Borgheiinck.
Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery, Browns Valley. Pallbearers were Pat Miller, Tony Miller, Jim Miller, Jim Madison, David Miller and Linda Miller.
Visitation was Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the church and continued Monday one hour prior to the service.
Alice was born September 13, 1926, in Browns Valley, MN, to Tony and Sara (Cuff) Haanen. She attended rural school in District 5. On August 8, 1947, Alice married Gordon Miller at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley. She worked as a waitress at the Browns Valley Liquor Store. Alice retired in 1972 and became a homemaker. Gordon passed away in 2000. In 2009, Alice made her home in the Valley Vista Apartments.
Alice enjoyed traveling and spending winters in California. She loved dogs, cats, horses, birds, flowers, and cooking.
Survivors include four children, David (friend Joyce) Miller of Hancock, MN, Pat (Joan) Miller of Browns Valley, Jim Miller of Mound, MN, and Linda Miller (Christy Wingo) of Peyton, CO; five grandchildren, Dane Miller, Tony (Lacey) Miller, Chelsey Miller, Jacob Miller, and Jordan Miller; two great-grandchildren, Dasani and Daxtin Miller; a brother, Jim Haanen of Browns Valley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; and five sisters, Loretta, Doris, Bess, Barbara, and Katie.
