Alice Kadoun

Alice M. Kadoun, 89, Wahpeton, formerly of Hankinson, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton.

Funeral Services will be Monday, July 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Claire City with Rev. Jonathan Varns officiating. Music will be provided by Edwin Arndt, Jr., and Curt Brownlee.

Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery, Lidgerwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Lydia Kadoun, Everly Holmlund, Jax Holmlund, and all of the caretakers at St. Catherine’s Living Center. Active pallbearers will be Landon Kadoun, Corey Holmlund, Craig Koeppe, Dale Kadoun, Kenneth Hellevang, and Joe Kadoun.

Visitation will be Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.

Alice Marie (Rice) Kadoun was born October 18, 1936, to Norman and Agnes Rice in Sisseton, SD. She attended Long Hollow #3 Country School grades 1-8 and attended Sisseton High School graduating at the age of 16 in 1955. After high school, Alice worked part time at the Roberts County Courthouse and then full time in the treasurer’s office. She retired after working there 30 years.

On April 24, 1955, Alice was united in marriage to Roland Kadoun at Hope Lutheran Church, rural Sisseton. They were blessed with one son, Bruce.

Alice and Roland farmed for many years in Elma Township in North Dakota. After Roland’s passing in 2000, she remained on the farm for a few years before moving to Wahpeton.

Alice was a hardworking, quiet person who enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed reading and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alice is survived by her son, Bruce and his wife Lucy Kadoun of Aurora, SD; two grandchildren, Chris (Kristin) Kadoun of Sartell, MN, and Kayla (Corey) Holmlund of Aurora, SD; great-grandchildren, Landon and Lydia Kadoun and Everly and Jax Holmlund; sisters-in-law, Pat Rice of Aberdeen, SD, and ArDeen Haas of Lidgerwood; and brother-in-law, Larry Kadoun of Anoka, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; infant son, Keith; and brothers, Stanley Rice and Laverne Rice and his wife Germaine.
